- Spring (April to May): One of the best times for whisky tours in Edinburgh. Milder weather, longer daylight hours, and fewer crowds than summer make it ideal. May is also recognised as whisky month in Scotland, adding extra appeal for enthusiasts.
- Summer (June to August): Peak tourist season brings warm weather and long days, perfect for exploring. However, expect larger crowds, higher prices, and increased demand due to school holidays and major festivals.
- Autumn (September to October): A great balance of pleasant weather and improved availability. Crowds drop after August, while most whisky experiences run at full capacity. Accommodation and reservations are generally easier than in summer.
- Winter (November to March): Winter is the quietest season overall, aside from late December around New Year’s Eve. Indoor whisky tours continue operating as usual, though some full-day distillery trips may run less frequently.
