Things to know before booking your Edinburgh Dungeon tickets this Halloween

  • Make sure you book your tickets online and at least 2 weeks in advance for a specific time slot. Tickets tend to sell out fast so make sure you bag your spot if you’re ready for the scares!
  • Standard operating hours are daily from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm, although timings during Halloween may vary. Keep an eye on the official The Edinburgh Dungeon website for updates.
  • During Halloween, the Dungeon opens at 11am and closes at 5:30pm, with the last entry at 5pm. Weekday mornings are usually quieter if you want to avoid the crowds.
  • Please note the experience is in a dark environment with loud noises, which some children may not enjoy.
  • The dungeon is not for the faint-hearted! Pregnant guests, anyone with heart conditions or serious medical issues, or those easily spooked should give this one a miss.
  • Brace yourself for dark corridors, fog, loud noises, flashing lights, and plenty of jump scares. The actors love to interact, so you never know when you might become part of the story!
  • Some show areas at the Edinburgh Dungeon Halloween events use flashing lights, which may affect visitors with photosensitive epilepsy. Guests who are affected are advised to avoid these areas.
  • The tour itself lasts about 75 minutes, but factor in potential queue times when planning your visit.

  • By tram: Alight at Princes Street Stop, just a 5-minute walk from the Dungeon
  • By bus: St Andrew Square is a 10-minute walk from the attraction
  • By car: NCP Edinburgh St John's Hill, Waverley Station Car Park and Holyrood Road NCP Car parks are available just a few minutes from the Dungeon, and offer secure parking. However, since there is limited parking available, public transport is recommended.
  • There are restrooms available at the Dungeon for visitor convenience. The main accessible toilets are located just after admissions on the lower level, which is accessible by lift before the tour.
  • A themed gift shop at the exit offers a fantastic range of spooky merchandise, souvenirs, and collectibles to remember your visit. The shop is only accessible from inside the Dungeon, so guests with access needs should use the lift on the admissions level.
  • Quiet areas are available for visitors who need a break from intense Halloween experiences
  • Staff are trained to assist with medical or accessibility needs
  • Wheelchair accessibility: There is wheelchair access at the dungeon. However, only one guest using a wheelchair can be accommodated at a time, so make sure you plan or book your tickets in advance.
  • Stair-free access: Several flights of stairs have stairlifts, helping guests transfer from wheelchair to stairlift unaided.
  • Elevator access: Elevators provide access to different levels, making it easier for guests with mobility concerns to navigate the attraction comfortably.
  • Assistance dogs: Guide or assistance dogs are welcome inside the Dungeon. However, loud noises, mist effects, and strong smells (good and bad) may be confusing to assistance animals.
  • Hearing impairments: Guests with hearing impairments, and BSL users may bring one assistant free of charge.
  • Support assistants: A support assistant can accompany any disabled visitor free of charge, with one free entry per guest.
  • The Halloween experience is not suitable for children under 8 years due to intense scares and themes.
  • Kids aged under 15 must be accompanied by an adult 16 or older.
  • Photography is strictly prohibited inside the Dungeon to maintain the immersive experience for all guests.
  • Eating or drinking inside the attraction is not allowed. There are no on-site food or drink options, so make sure you come prepared. 
  • Guests are expected to behave respectfully. Disruptive or unsafe behaviour may result in removal from the attraction.

Will the events continue in poor weather?

Absolutely! The Dungeon is all indoors, so rain or shine, the Halloween fun goes on.
